Besides obviously looking Instagram- and Pinterest-ready, a swatch of your wedding design is pretty useful. It serves as a visual guide for your shopping and DIY projects without having to keep your linens and flowers in your purse at all times. There will be a day (or ten) when you’re out thrift shopping and you’ll find a perfect vintage piece that just might have to be added to the wedding décor. If it’s purple, is it the right shade of purple? Is it too blue? Is the gold, like, gold-gold or bronze-gold? Having a thousand shades of purple or mismatched gold hues will make the décor clash. Avoid that, if at all possible. And make a swatch! Your wedding planner can put this together for you so you’ll have a visual for the planning process in the months following. Bring this along to the cake bakery, invitation designer, linen rental company, bridesmaid dress fitting… you get the point! Swatch everything and show everyone your fabulous plans.
